The entrance to the EXPO 2000 Plaza is intended to form a coloured triad of glazed buildings. The three structures convey something of the payful, light-hearted atmosphere characteristic of Expo 2000 which was to be retained to some extent even after its closure and the dismantling of the pavilions. The crystalline volumes define a wider central and narrower intermediate open spaces towards the edges. This composition accentuates the three entrances and makes them more individual. The reflective skins of recycled blue glass – from ice blue to deep indigo – make the facades appear like a glittering waterfall, depending on the time of day and weather conditions.

The first building phase, the Office Center with its four wings, is organized around a light courtyard with birches, with access through a kind of cloister. The courtyard brings light right down to the garage level, and is in touch with the naturally evolved subsoil. The façade structrure turns round the building as an uninterrupted, homogeneous skin, supporting the effect made by the lucid structure. The offices can be used with combined individual and communal working areas, or adapted to other organizational forms.
