ICE RAILWAY STATION COLGNE DEUTZ

Köln / 2001

Realization Competition - Honorable Mention

Cologne’s Main Station is extended across the Rhine to accommodate ICE trains of the new express line to Frankfurt/Main and is connected to a moving walkway via the Hohenzollern Bridge. The redevelopment plan for the central urban area of th suburb of Deutz is to integrate the new railway station and conference building with the existing ‘Arena’ Stadthaus and the vast trade fair compound into an overall urban design pattern. The listed Deutz railway station with domed roof will also be inegrated into the redevelopment. The new terminal affords a panorama view over Cologne, with the Cathedral, the Main Station and the railwy bridge over the Rhine. International Competition with Kees Christiaanse/ASTOC.
