DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION

Hameln / 2001

Realization Competition 1st Prize

The new District Administration is meant to be a clear, integrative structure in the midst of a heterogeneous urban area at the ede of the historic town centre with its old Patricians’ houses, its villas and office buildings from the 1960s and 1970s. Small- and large-scale spaces overlap and interlock in this big building.

The entrance hall is large enough for exhibitions and public functions and for such purposes can be connected to the plenary chamber and opened to the garden. To match the colours and materials used in Hameln’s city centre, the building will be clad with slate, anthracite for the base course and grey-green for the upper storeys.
