NEW INNERCITY EXHIBITION FAIRGROUNDS

Hamburg / 2004

Realization Competition 1st Honorable Mention

Two irregularly patterned areas on the exhibition centre site at the foot of the television tower were each to be covered with a modular roof structure and thus made available for use as linked areas. The individual, square roof modules have edges 20 metres in length. They are inclined and arranged obliquely inrelation to each other, with four at a time being supported by a clamped column. The change in direction in the roof angles produces trangular skylights to provide light and remove smoke. This mobile roofscape is structured by both the interior, which gains a warm atmosphere from the orientet strand boarding, and from the lively top view of the roof from a higher avantage point. This project was developed in cooperation with AS&P Albert Speer und Partner, Frankfurt am Main
