Facades Residential Area 'Mosaik' Zoo

Hannover / 2011

Competition 1st Prize

In a cooperative competition procedure, alternative facade proposals were to be developed for the above mentioned building project by Hochtief Formart in cooperation with the Swiss architects Marazzi + Paul, winners of the urban planning competition Mars-La-Tour-Stra├če in the "Zoo Quarter" close to the Eilenriede, the largest area of urban woodland in Europe.

The monolithic effect of the three-dimensional structure is emphasized by light brick facades alternating with self-contained wall areas and floor-to-ceiling apertures. The interaction between clear principles of alignment and the gratuitous arrangement of the individual "mosaic stones" is characteristic. The result is a vibrant effect

associated with the significance and sustainability worthy of this residential quarter.

ASP Architekten designed the facades of blocks 1 and 2 out of a total of five blocks.
